COPE Nominates Local Housing Activist and Writer Sean Orr as By-Election Candidate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Feb. 3, 2025

Vancouver, BC - After a unanimous vote of membership Sunday, the Coalition of Progressive Electors (COPE) has endorsed Sean Orr to stand for COPE in the April 5th Vancouver City Council by-election.

“Billionaires around the world are buying politicians and elections to make the government work for them instead of us,” said Sean Orr. “Where billionaires have too much power, we have climate disasters, rising homelessness, and housing gets more and more expensive. Vancouver doesn’t have to be this way.”

Unlike the affluent insiders and landlords who typically run for office, Sean Orr has spent his life in the trenches of the real world - scrubbing dishes, landscaping, and working to pay the bills.

"Ken Sim has shown us whose side he's on - the billionaires like Chip Wilson who fund his campaigns," said COPE Co-Chair Shawn Vulliez, "We need someone to speak truth to power and expose them. Sean Orr is the person for the job."

COPE and Sean Orr will be making a campaign launch announcement in the coming days.
