THE SCHOOLS WE NEED SURVEY: WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
COPE wants to work with parents, students, union groups, and the public to create actions that will achieve more provincial funding, improvements to education programs for students and better accountability and transparency by current and future elected officials.
Petition: Make Transit Free For Youth Under 18
COPE stands for free public transit as a means of making life more affordable and addressing the climate crisis.
In the 2018-2022 term, COPE representatives introduced bills to all three levels of civic government to make transit free for kids 12 and under. This measure succeeded, and in 2021, it was implemented by the Province of BC and Translink. School Trustee Suzie Mah successfully passed a motion to demand that transit be made free for all youth 18 and under, but Ken Sim & ABC blocked it in City Council.
Sign our petition and urge Vancouver City Council to take the next step towards free transit: free transit for youth under 18.
Petition: Rent Control For Vancouver
COPE stands for taking bold action to end the housing crisis and make housing truly affordable for the people who need it.
BC’s rental regulations have a huge loophole: Landlords jack up rents between tenants, depleting our affordable housing stock when people move. It makes life in Vancouver unaffordable.
But there’s a type of rent control which closes that loophole. It’s called Vacancy Control, and it was even implemented in BC in the 1970s. By enacting it in Vancouver, we can cool the out-of-control rental market and make it easier to keep living in Vancouver.
Sign our petition to support a Rent Control Bylaw in Vancouver to tie rent to the units, not the tenant.
KEN SIM LIED TO US; IS PUTTING OUR PARKS AT RISK OF BEING SOLD OFF
During the 2022 election, Ken Sim promised that he would not move to dissolve the Vancouver Park Board. He lied.
His own ABC Park Board Comissioner said: "Make no mistake about it, abolishing the Park Board is an erosion of democracy.”
The Vancouver Park Board plays a criticial role in protecting and stewarding our green spaces. Without it, Ken Sim and ABC are free to sell off our parks.
Dissolving the Park Board requires an amendment to the Vancouver Charter, which means that Premier Eby & the BC NDP have the power to stop it.
Sign our Petition to Tell David Eby:
Do Not Dissolve the Vancouver Park Board.
Help Defeat Ken Sim & ABC With A Donation to COPE
Ken Sim and ABC’s election war chest is funded by billionaires like Chip Wilson. Last year, ABC’s average donation was over $1,000 per donor. It’s no secret who they are working for.
ABC is revving up the chainsaw to make cuts to our public services, privatize public assets, and give away Vancouver to the 1%. Your donation to COPE today means we can fight Ken Sim and win.
