FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
VSB Trustee Suzie Mah Hosting Town Hall on Vancouver Schools on May 28th
May 23, 2024
Vancouver, BC - COPE Vancouver and School Trustee Suzie Mah want to hear from parents, teachers, students, and the community on priorities and challenges in Vancouver Schools. On Tuesday May 28th, from 4PM-7PM, COPE is hosting a town hall with round-table discussions highlighting issues in Vancouver schools and collaborating to come up with solutions to building the schools that we need in our city.
“The Vancouver School Board is passing budgets and making decisions which do not meet the educational needs of our students. Special needs students are being let down, we don’t have enough before and after school spaces, and the ABC school board is cutting programs we need and considering closing schools and selling off public lands,” says Trustee Suzie Mah, a former teacher with over 30 years of experience.
In addition to the town hall event, COPE has launched the Schools We Need Survey to solicit feedback and solutions to the challenges Vancouver schools face. Teachers, students, parents, and anyone in Vancouver is invited to participate.
Mah says, “Let’s build the kind of schools we need - schools where students feel included, safe, and get the education they need and deserve.”
COPE is fighting for students, teachers, and families on the Vancouver School Board. The Coalition of Progressive Electors has been Vancouver’s progressive Party since 1968.
